Research

The university setting within which many of the professionals linked to the Association carry out their activities, ensures that the projects at Salute all’ Specchio Onlus are accompanied, where possible, to research projects aimed at obtaining precise and precise feedback on the results actually achieved.

Currently, as part of the ” Salute all’ Specchio ” project, a three-time evaluation is under way (at the beginning and end of each round of meetings and after 3 months from them), compared to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Quality of life
  • Self esteem
  • Perception of one’s body image

The choice to focus on these constructs is related to clinical experience and to what is evidenced by the international scientific literature.

In fact, anxiety and depression represent the two main psychological reactions to the diagnosis and treatment pathway, with a significant impact on patient wellbeing and compliance with care (Rosman, 2004). In the same way, the disease and its treatments can be associated with very aggressive side effects, which negatively impact on the perception of one’s own body image (Larouche & Chin-Peuckert, 2006; Harcourt & Frith, 2008), on levels of self-esteem (Carpenter et al. ., 1994) and on the quality of life (Lyons Shelton et al., 2004).
